Organic SEO to fill books?

Ranking in Google is the first go-to for businesses when looking at marketing strategies to get patients in the door. But how successful is it?? My main concerns for businesses is:
- is it measurable: How are you measuring your efforts vs ROI? Do you have tracking set up, do you understand how to interpret the data you see is analytics/GA4? How are SEO optimisations directly linked to improvements in ranking and/or more new patients booking online?
- how long does it take: This goes two ways. How long does it take you to implement enough to make a difference (which leads me back to my first point), and how long does it take to see the impact of said effort? What does the $ amount equate to, when compared to other marketing methods?
- What else impacts client conversions even if you do rank highly in google: Organic SEO is one link in the long chain that needs to remain unbroken to take someone from searching your service locally, to connecting with your business. A few examples are, your competitors listed side-by-side, website UX, design and communication, trust, ability to book online.
- What else are you trying: If organic SEO ranking is simply one marketing method (which it is), what other 9 options are you testing & measuring? Why put all your eggs in the one basket, particularly when a huge proportion of the outcome is out of your control. Let's test and measure other methods (online & offline), double down on the ones that work and forget the rest!
Thoughts??
