Event Details

A practical, reflective and evidence-informed webinar that moves cultural responsiveness from theory to action – across all stages of therapy.

Cultural responsiveness is not a one-off conversation. It’s a continuous practice that must be meaningfully woven throughout the entire therapy journey.

In this practical three-hour webinar, Nikita Westbury, Aboriginal Speech Pathologist and Director of Eat. Speak. Repeat., will guide participants through a deeper understanding of how to embed culturally responsive practice across all stages of paediatric speech therapy.

Using A Growing Understanding’s three stages of service: Identify & Understand, Improve & Develop, Implement & Generalise, this session explores how cultural responsiveness influences everything from assessment and goal-setting, to intervention, coaching, and progress review.

With a focus on real-world examples and reflective practice, Nikita will challenge participants to move from awareness to action – equipping you with strategies to create more inclusive, respectful, and impactful services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and more broadly across diverse communities.

What you’ll learn:

This webinar supports speech pathologists to meet mandatory culturally responsive training requirements while embedding inclusive practices across every stage of care.

You’ll learn how to:

• View cultural responsiveness as an ongoing, embedded practice
• Recognise how bias and systems shape decision-making
• Apply culturally responsive approaches to assessment and planning
• Adapt goals, strategies, and coaching to reflect family values
• Support skill generalisation in culturally meaningful ways
• Reflect on your practice and identify actions for growth
• Align with ethical and professional standards in speech pathology

Can’t make it live?

No worries! All registered participants will receive access to the recording for six months after the live event.
